Can you imagine a Christmas without the cold? Can you imagine a Christmas with beach sand instead of snow? It may seem strange but Christmas in the Southern hemisphere is in the middle of summer. It is scorching hot, and instead of huddling around a fire, people huddle around air conditioners.
A white Christmas is so exciting that sometimes we forget that not all Christmases are white. Playing in the sand could be fun, but can you make a sandman the way you make a snowman, of course not. There is something totally magical about a white Christmas. Besides, without the cold and the snow, there's no fire, and without the fire there's no fireplace.
And without the fireplace there's nowhere to hang the stockings, and so there is no where to put the fantastic stocking fillers.
They're like the starter of the meal when you are ravenous. You are so looking forward to the main meal, but you know it is a way off, so you get a small preview of what is to come, a small treat to whet your gift appetite.
Christmas is not just about the gifts and the food, it is also about families being together and showing their love and appreciation for one another. It is such a wonderful time to give to those you love.
